WWE loves their mystery these days. The last few months alone have seen the man in the box and the masked men. The latest of these is Randy Orton’s correspondent. Those are simple yet effective ways to get people curious about the story’s development. Even the most jaded fans can’t help but wonder who it could be.

And that’s exactly what we’re gonna do. Let’s take a look at the seven most likely candidates for Randy’s phone callers, ranked by likelihood.

7. Ric Flair

As far as we know, Ric Flair is still under contract with AEW. But, it’s worth noting he hadn’t appeared in months. He had to cancel one appearance due to feeling exhausted, and we haven’t heard from him since. Plus, his energy drink, Wooo Energy (number of “o” not guaranteed), is nowhere to be seen on AEW’s branding. WWE, on the other hand, could do with more sponsors.

And of course, there is a long history between the two, as Ric Flair was part of Evolution, where he mentored the young Randy. Falir has always spoken highly of Randy and is a longtime rival of Cody Rhodes’ father, Dusty Rhodes.

6. Jelly Roll

The main character of Smackdown, himself.

What if the current top babyface of the show was actually conniving with Randy? WWE loves having its celebrities turn heel, be it Travis Scott against Cody Rhodes, Logan Paul, or, more recently, IshowSpeed joining forces with the Vision.

Jelly Roll’s WWE tenure has been closely tied to Rnady, since his in-ring debut saw the pair team against Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. Jelly Roll has acted as the voice of reason in the last few weeks. He is always shown to be on good terms with the babyfaces in the show. He is close friends with Cody Rhodes, and seemed like the only one who could reason with Randy until he got hit with an RKO. But what if it was all a plan to enter Cody’s head?

5. Kelly Kelly

Barbie Blank, FKA Kelly Kelly, has recently expressed her wish to return to the WWE ring.

There was a short storyline in 2008 which saw Randy Orton and Kelly Kelly having an affair. In an effort to double up the heat, Rady Orton put an abrupt end to it to the dismay of Kelly. There is a chance the two resumed their affair and are looking to become the new WWE power couple, with the long-term goal of starting the next big dynasty of wrestling, or, as one would say, the next royal family.

4. Shane McMahon

Instead of creating a new royal family, Randy could be looking to put a former WWE royal back in power.

Shane McMahon is the son of WWE chairman Vince McMahon and brother-in-law of head of creative Triple H. WWE has been testing the waters recently of how fans would react to bringing back the McMahon name in WWE lore. Chants have chanted “We want Vince” to express their discontent at WWE’s current creative. He appeared on the screen during the umpteenth John Cena video tribute, was mentioned during Triple H’s Hall of Fame speech and again by Cody Rhodes during his promo with Stephanie McMahon.

Rhodes got a pep talk and a slap from Stephanie McMahon. Maybe his opponent is also being prepped up by a McMahon, laying the grounds for an eventual McMahon rehab.

3. Masked Man

Masked Man has been WWE’s favourite crutch as of late. Lots of the Bloodline era Roman Reigns matches featured interference by a man in a black hood. Masked appeared at WWE Wargames, using Seth Rollins’ move against CM Punk. There have since been a couple of others masked men who have been revealed as Becky Lynch, Austin Theory, local jobbers and ventually, a returning Seth Rollins.

The man in Randy’s ear does not have to be an established character. He could n also be a symbol, a force of nature.

The revelation would be that Randy Orton is not being influenced by anyone, he would be hearing what he wants to hear, ala Majin Vegeta.

2. Randy Orton’s voices

There is a non-negligible chance that Randy Orton might just be listening to himself.

The voices in his head used to be some nonsensical lyrics in his entrance song, Voices by Rev Theory. Since his return in Survivor Series 2024 after an 18-month absence, he started acknowledging the voices, and they have become part of his character. Now, it could be that the voices have taken a tangible form and he feels the need to use his cell phone to listen to themĀ better.

1. “The Final Boss” The Rock

Rock “The Dwayne Johnson” has some unfinished business with Cody Rhodes. He pinned him clean in the night 1 main event of WrestleMania 40. He gave him a mysterious artefact. They drank tequila. They became enemies again when he helped Cena turn heel at Elimination Chamber 2025 and has yet to be seen again.

After being the catalyst for Cena’s heel turn, the Rock could do the same for Randy.

It is said that we never know when the Final Boss will show up, pr when he will go back to his planet.

With next year’s WrestleMania taking place in Saudi RAabia, there’s a chance The Rock will finish his story against Cody Rhodes and possibly retire. The Rock is a fan of long builds, with his WrestleMania 28 bout against John Cena announced one year in advance.

WWE likes to go big and viral, and there’s nothing bigger or more rival than the most electrifying man in sports entertainment.
